Studying in Germany – Key Facts

UG Admissions

  • 1 year of college after STD XII or a Studienkolleg (Foundation) course in Germany is required to fulfill 13 years education criteria
  • Test AS (Mandatory for public universities)
  • IELTS & German Language (minimum B2 level) are essential requirements

PG Admissions

  • Direct admission after completing 3 or 4 years UG Degree
  • IELTS mandatory, GRE/GMAT not essential
  • German Language proficiency is not a mandatory requirement but highly recommended
  • UG Transcript and LORs are essential requirements

Tuition & Other Costs

  • Public Universities do not charge tuition fee for UG, PG or Foundation courses. Exception (s) are TU Munich and universities in Baden-Württemberg state.
  • Private Universities also have relatively lower Tuition, median range being
    € 2,500 to € 10,000 per semester.
  • Block Account (€ 11,904) is a mandatory requirement in the first year.

Fine Points

  • Plenty of English Taught Courses available (more so at the PG level)
