Studying in Australia – Key Facts

UG Admissions

  • Direct admissions after STD XIIth with 60–70% marks (varies by university and course)
  • SAT/ACT not mandatory.
  • IELTS is essential (6/6.5 bands at most universities).
  • Some programs (like Engineering or Medicine) require specific subjects such as PCM or PCB.

PG Admissions

  • Direct admission after 3-4 years UG Degree. Minimum 60-70% marks in UG required (depending on course and institution).
  • IELTS mandatory, GRE/GMAT are not essential.
  • Relevant background or work exp. for specialized programs (e.g. MBA,
    Data Science, Public Health).

Tuition & Other Costs

  • Annual Tuition: Tuition Fee for Degree programs ranges between Au$ 20k-40k, professional courses like Engineering, Medicine or MBA cost more (Au$ 40k-60k).
  • Annual Living costs: Au$ 20-25k for accommodation, food and other expenses.
  • Proof of funds: 1 year tuition fee & living, usually between AU$ 45-50k, Proof can include bank statements, loan sanction letters or sponsorship documents.

Fine Points

  • Duration of programs: UG 3 or 4 years, PG 1 or 2 years.
  • Part Time Work up to 48 hours per fortnight during semesters.
  • Post-Study Work Visa allows graduates to stay back up-to 2–6 years.
  • Migration friendly pathways leading to Permanent Residence (PR).
